Off Shore Powerboat Racing World Championship

IMG_0063We went down to Fort Zachary Taylor waterfront to catch the last race of the preliminaries on Wednesday. What fun! I’ve never been a big power boat enthusiast, but when you’re sitting right there on the water and the boats are roaring by at close to 200 MPH, one can’t help but be impressed. It’s almost like going to a monster truck rally.. it’s so loud it triggers some primal instinct to stand up and yell!

The next races are running this Friday and Saturday, and I can definitely say that I’ll be going back for some more of that!

We’d seen the boat parade last Sunday down Duval street, and this friday evening there will be another event on Duval where you can go and wander around and see the boats close up.. there really is rarely a dull moment here in Key West, there’s always something going on!

I’ll post some more photos next week.
