A “Convergence of Lunar Events”… Blame New Moon.
Put on your clam diggers ladies!
Apparently this Key West place is pretty close to sea level. Who knew? This week (Starting today) the high tides will be 2 feet higher than normal, causing seawater to back up into the storm drains and flood the lower-lying streets.
This is all caused by the New Moon trailer.. er, I mean the New Moon combined with the Lunar Perigee.
I know this isn’t as cool as a hurricane, but I just may need to pour myself a rum-runner or two and hit the streets on my bike to see this!
The tides will be back to normal by the weekend, but any rain we get will just make things worse.. add to that there are 10,000 Bikers riding into town this friday for the Poker Run, and it should make for an interesting weekend!
It should be noted that I’m not terribly alarmed as most of the storm drains around here seem to be clogged up anyways. I doubt much water is going to come through backwards, as none seems to flow in the correct direction to begin with. God knows how many panties, bras, jock-straps, and beads are jammed up in those pipes. This town needs an enema!
I jacked that photo from Weather.com, if you were sitting there wondering how I was able to travel to the future and bring back funny photos. Thanks to spindrift88, whoever you are.

Rum Runners? Methinks you should indulge your passion for Blue Moon:

Of course, I have no idea if this month’s event will ACTUALLY be a “Blue Moon”, and I’m far too lazy to do that research….
Woah.. good thinking.. I totally missed that one!
